Ok, so a million years ago, I used to post on Gail's, went back after a long absence and found things were not quite the same.. glad I stumbled on this site!

So the reason for my search? I had a dish at Cafe Silan in San Jose last weekend called Lopekan.. is looks like it might be a falafel type thing, but had a different texture from the falafel I have had (not that my experience is that great, mind you) and was a bit more coarse.

The description is this: Garbanzo beans, cumin, bulgar stuffed with carmelized onion and walnut.

They were formed into balls and fried, the covered in yogurt sauce.

is this falafel with a different name that is more Kurdish? Another thing?

any advice would be appreciated.
